Disappointing loss @Iowa. I thought we would win and I really don't know what happened there. Horrible TV coverage (even via pay-per-view online) so I was lucky to even be able to follow the game. Fortunately we are done with Big Ten road games this year.
Where do we stand with regards to the NCAA Tournament? We are 21-10 (9-7) and our RPI is 35. I think if the season ended today that we would be just about the last team in. However, we still have the Big Ten Tournament to sort things out. What do we need to do in Chicago? Let's look at the Friday matchups:
Ohio State vs. Michigan/Minnesota
Wisconsin vs. Michigan State/Northwestern
Indiana vs. Illinois/Penn State
Iowa vs. Purdue
If we lose to Penn State then we are out. That would just be unforgivable at this point. If we beat Penn State but lose to Indiana then it depends on other teams. If we beat both Penn State and Indiana then we are in. There is no way they can leave us out if we have 23 wins.
Here are my predictions for the Big Ten Tournament.
1. Michigan over Minnesota
2. Michigan State over Northwestern
3. Illinois over Penn State
4. Ohio State over Michigan
5. Iowa over Purdue
6. Michigan State over Wisconsin
7. Illinois over Indiana
8. Ohio State over Iowa
9. Michigan State over Illinois
10. Michigan State over Ohio State
Big Ten NCAA teams are Ohio State (1), Wisconsin (2), Michigan State (5), Indiana (9), Illinois (11).
